When it was announced to the world that Steve Jobs was with us no more, many wept for a man that they had never met. This just went to show how much the world adored him. Mr. Jobs was a visionary that started an amazing company that revolutionized the entire world. He was the father of the iPod, iPad, and iPhone as well as the Macintosh. He fought his way through the Microsoft dominated market and emerged victorious as one of the wealthiest men in the world. But over the past few years he had been fighting a losing battle against pancreatic cancer. He obtained a liver transplant and he somehow managed to keep that out of the media’s eye. He eventually took a medical leave of absence, essentially leaving the company in Tim Cook’s capable hands once again.
He returned for a short while to Apple to announce the release of the iPad 2. On August 24th, 2011 he officially resigned from Apple. A month later on October 4th the iPhone 4S was released, making it the first Apple product release since his retirement. Steve Jobs passed away the next day on October the 5th. He was 56 years old. Apple redid their homepage in honor of their fallen leader.
