"Dude"

What is a dude? Is it a term for a radical young man? Is it a slang word for "male"? Is it Jeff Lebowski?
Nope. Its all three. In fact, dude is the essence of manliness found in everything, young, old, short, tall, smart, dumb, strong, weak, alive, sassy, rich, poor, shy, lame, odd, beautiful, gifted, inedible, brave, ugly, plain, fancy, dirty, fat, skinny, barbarous, clean, red, orange, yellow, blue, gray, brown, green, purple, black, white, pink, blue-green, picky, lazy, dead, repulsive, scary, mysterious, even feminine.

However, there is major ignorance when deciding who and what is a dude. Because one guy is dark, tan, and handsome, he is called a dude. However the awkward geeky guy isn't. This is a serious case of "dudicial" prejudice.

So, to all of you ignorant people, prepared to have your minds blown.

Wherever things exist, dude exists within them. In the circle of life, there is the circle of dude. Everything comes and goes, but just like time, dude is infinite.

Also, just like the last three words of that last sentence, Duuuuude! Magazine is infinite. Although Ezine is coming to an end (not to mention this is my final blog post), Duuuuude! will always be around.

EDIT: Just kidding, this is my second to last blog post.

Never stop being a dude,

Like a Boss

Link here.

Comedy hip-hop group The Lonely Island (consisting of Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, and Andy Samberg) has taken the world by storm. With several viral videos like "I'm on a Boat" and "Boombox", the group is famous for their expletive-filled songs about normal everyday things (and some not so normal)

The Lonely Island is most notable for parodying several music like Electro, R&B, and even 70's pop. They also have done several compilations with other famous artists like Justin Timberlake (Motherlover) and Nicki Minaj (The Creep).

The group first got its start when the three made short comedy skits and music parodies in junior high school. The hobby soon developed into a career when writing portions of the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. They were soon brought to Saturday Night Live as writers and actors. Doing the same kind of videotaped shorts they made before, the trio soon developed what would be known as the SNL Digital Shorts. They finally hit huge success with their song "Lazy Sunday" and began producing several hits. The group also did a film called "Hot Rod" in addition to the music videos they made. With two albums selling millions of copies, we can bet their next album is going to be even better than before.

Slash's Blog on Manliness

 Lesson number 6:
A Man can play... the guitar
_

Who doesn't want to be a rock star?

There is of course different reasons one may take up the act of playing the guitar. I would say that the top reasons would be for the women, the dream,or just to be a rock legend. Slash of course knows all these things as he has them all. Slash originally the lead guitarist from the immortal legends of rock Guns N Roses band is still the number one rock  guitarist ever to play a note. His signature guitar is of course the Gibson Les Paul since he started playing in bands and continues to play. He has his own partnership chain of music shops known as Guitar centers that are now sprawled across america that help guitarist greatly. The shops offer repairs, instruments of all kinds(mainly guitars) and amps.He has managed to stay quite modern, as his most famous moments has long since passed in todays new is old world. After he left Guns N Roses he continued to play the songs in concert that everybody loves like( Sweet Child O Mine, Welcome to the Jungle etc). He is a great inspiration for all inspiring new guitarist and any other musician respects his reputation. You know a great musician when you wonder what the  world would be without them and there music.

In an explosion of sound, the five musicians begin their jam session.
Lead guitarist Tyler Watts takes his cue and begins to solo.
With fingers sliding up and down the neck, he syncopates the notes to the beats of the drums as well as harmonizing with the trumpet, keyboard, and bass.
“It’s the freedom of expression,” he says.
“You can listen to people play and sometimes you don’t know if it’s good or bad because it’s just jazz.”
Tyler is a jazz musician currently playing in the band “Trading Fives”. In addition, he works as a guitar teacher at the Clavier-Werke music school.

Feature Story lead and nut

Everybody has heard of the American Dream. The land of oppurtunity. Where you can go from rags to righes overnight. But nobody hears the tales of those who go from riches to rags and back again. Their tales are ones filled with exitement and sorrow. The tale i tell you today is that of one from riches to rags and back again.

Dilum Chandrasoma was born in Austin, Texas and raised in a well off family with two other siblings. He always showed a knack for economics and being able to predict where the market was going. He graduated from Lanier High School at age 18 and had no aspirations to continue his education with a masters degree or bachelor's degree. However when he got married, his entire life changed. He and his wife decide to become completely independent and as they had no stable income, were forced to rent a small one bedroom apartment on the outskirts of town.

You say you want a Revolution

Link here.

John, Ringo, Paul, and George. The four people who are claimed to be the most influential in the evolution of music. From their early love song days (All My Loving) to their LSD/Hippie days (I Am The Walrus), The Beatles will be forever remembered by their musical expertise, catchy lyrics, and radical, unique, and innovative ideas.

Starting off in Liverpool, these guys were originally known as The Quarrymen which included John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. They soon left the band and started fresh with The Beatles with their new drummer Ringo Starr. It wasn't long before the band hit stardom in Liverpool. Taking their talents overseas, The Beatles reach America where they are met with a great reaction. They soon were making number one hits across the globe

The band hit several rough spots along the way, increasing tensions (mainly between John and Paul) between one another. However they were all able to let it be and laughed it off with a smoke of LSD. Thus, The Beatles reached a phase and started making "trippy" songs which were influenced a lot by their drug use (thus songs like Tomorrow Never Knows and Revolution 9). Although the band was still very popular, there was still a lot of tension and they decided to make an album like the "good old days".

Link here.
Dubbed the "greatest Beatles album of all time," Abbey Road was a hit. With great songs like "Here Comes the Sun", "Because", and their final song aptly named "The End", Abbey Road became their last album before The Beatles officially broke up.

Lesson Number 5:

A Man's Good at his Job
James Bond especially knows how to
handle his work load.

Throughout history James bond has been played by a variety of badasses and is renowned for his general baddassery. Enough said, if there ever was a symbol of complete masculinity it would have to be James Bond. Short history: James Bond was created by writer Ian Fleming  a English writer who wrote a total of fourteen James Bond novels before his death. James Bond became so popular that other riders used him as there main character for there books. Eventually of course the fame spread to hollywood were it was able to reach everyone through major motion pictures. Interesting to know I found that Daniel Craig  plays Bond again in the new movie Skyfall coming out in 2012(fyi). Most of the novels have been changed into movies and now iam guessing hollywood is making its own James Bond movies.  James Bond is a member of the Majestys secret Service , the agency which he represents. He is extremly resourcfull in any situatuion. He of course favors the German Walther PPK or most recently the Walther P99. He is also an expert in knife fights as seen in almost every film. He most likely invented swagger and placed the most famous quotes on our tongues."Shaken not Stirred"

Superheroes

Everyone loves 'em.

(From top to bottom) Captain America, Green Lantern , Batman, Iron Man

Superheroes were once the pure essence of manliness. Capes, tights, and flashy colors were all the rage 60 years ago. Jump to present day. Kids read less comic books so they can waste time by playing (way too much) Call of Duty and Halo. Comic books sold like hotcakes in the fifties. It was only a few cents for hours of entertainment. The heroes themselves have evolved overtime to progress with time. As kids started dropping the books and went over to television, comic books did just that with their heroes. Batman had reached stardom with his television series aptly named Batman. Even Batman's friends like Superman and Wonder Woman started airing their own television shows.

Source here

DC comics was taking the superhero realm by storm. That is until Marvel showed up. Marvel introduced new heroes like the Fantastic 4, Spider-Man, and Captain America. Before you could say "BAP!" or "KAZAM!", the heroes hit the big screen. Since then, heroes have been in major Hollywood action blockbusters since the sixties. People remember the recent Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds (and his abs) and The Dark Knight. Not to mention all the video games released with all your favorite heroes beating up those bad guys. At least the future of superheroes will be safe in the hands of gamers (when they aren't playing Call of Duty or Halo).

Jake Gyllenhaal's Blog on Manliness

Lesson Number 4:

A Man Is Skilled

Pretty self explanatory but still...
A man must be capable in any situation.
He must have the skills needed
to withstand the
hits life sends his way.

An incredibly useful skill to
have is that of adaptation to the enviorment your in.
Especially
movement , such as  "l'art du déplacement" or
Parkour.

In the movie, the Prince of Persia, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Prince Dastan a incredibly skilled practitioner of parkour as it is now called. He uses parkour in the story to fight, evade, and get around his surroundings with amazing stunts. Gyllenhaal prepared weeks in advance physically for the role. He developed the skilled needed by being taught by the founding father himself David Belle. In the movie there are deft defying leaps and stunts all done with no wires just guts from the stunt men above and of course Gyllenhaal himself. Parkour for those of you that dont know is at a basic level the art of movement over a usually urban terrain , useing the structures presented there as catapults not crutches. The practitioner must be in top physicall form or at least match his level of fitness and skill to whatever feats he attempts to be "safe", for you could harm yourself  all to easy. Parkour is manly as it requires all the manly traits like, physical strength and endurance, judgement ans skill. Jake Gyllenhaal was man enough to do a movie and  adapt to what was expected of him. He did it and got out of it a probably great workout and experience. Therefore I challenge you to go out and find a skill that you wish you could master and do it!

The End of Ezio, or is this Just the beginning?

In anticipation of the latest installment in my favorite video game franchise (Assassin's Creed), I have decided to do a series of blog posts on the video games. So here is a synopsis about what has happened so far:
In the very beginning we are introduced to a obscure character with a group of women gathered around him. The screen flashes red and blue and we learn absolutely nothing about the character we were just introduced to. The screen then reverts to a cutscene where we are introduced to Desmond Miles, a descendant of the Assassins. The Assassins are a group of people who oppose the Templars. The Templars wish to rule humanity with an iron fist. We also learn that Desmond has been captured by the Templars and strapped into a machine simply known as the Animus. The Animus allows Desmond to visit the memories of his ancestors. We also gather the information that the Templars are looking for something locked deep within Desmond's DNA, something that is so powerful, that the Assassins had to lock it away. After a lengthy argument with an Abstergo Industries ( modern day Templars) agent, Desmond reenters his ancestor's memories through the Animus and we are introduced to Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad, an assassin during the third crusade.

End of part 1, to be continued next week.

That Funky Monki

On the street, in your school, and almost everywhere are Brass Monki Custom Shoes. These new, trendy shoes are rising in popularity, with different designs all made on one Nike Dunk sneaker.
Launched in June 2009 by Daniel Reese, the website was merely a portfolio of a few shoes Reese created with Adobe Photoshop in his free time. It wasn't long after that the site was featured in magazines and blogs like Loaded, Susana, Kotaku, CNBC, and G4tv. Soon he stopped making the shoes as a hobby and made it into a full time career. Brass Monki also makes several designs, also accepting requests for designs wanted by the customers. Shoe design categories include video games, comics, TV shows, movies, and even shoes based off social networking services like Twitter and Facebook. Shoes range from £100 to as high as £450 (more than $600). Although the shoes are expensive, they are definitely worth each cent.

The Expendable's Blog on Manliness

Lesson Number 3:

A Man has other Manly Bro's (friends)

Men like to hang out with their
manly friends. Together they do
alot more manly things.
'cause that's what men do.
-
The Exendables are a great manly group.
You should take there lead and learn
a thing or two from them.

The Expendables
(1st movie)

The now legendary Expendables burst there way into theaters on August 13,2010 becoming an official box office hit featuring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Terry Crews and Randy Couture.Together they form one of the most action packed movies of all time just right for any guy. The movie is great that it not only shows them in battle action but also kicking back and relaxing just like any other group of guys. You could probably compare your hangouts to theres but iam willing to bet you don't throw knives into richly decorated targets at a tattoo/bike shop. Though I would defiantly consider it. Anyways, besides being a great movie you can see the obvious close relationship the men form with each other. That's the way you as a man should have your group, take from this an inspiration to knit your friends closer together. Because every guy knows that you always need a good bud to watch your back, and it doesn't get much better than that person being Rambo.

by Nathaniel Garcia

Keep a box office look out for The Expendables 2 , including new characters,
Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger ,and Bruce Willis.

and Chuck...

The Tables are Turned (Pun Definitely Intended)

"Turntablism ˈtɜːnteɪbəlɪzəm (N): the art of changing and mixing recordings to make new sounds, by touching and moving the records on a turntable"

Turntablism has been a huge phenomenon since the 90's when rap and hip hop started to become more popular. Some popular songs that have used this are Intergalactic by The Beastie Boys and The Choice is Yours by Black Sheep. In fact, turntablism has in a sense represents 90's rap. Though turntablism is still often heard today, it was used way more often 20 years ago. However, several clubs have DJs who will most likely use a modernized version which uses digital MP3 files instead of vinyl records (like people still dance to that) like the ION iPod Turntable.

In addition, there have been tons of Turntablist Contests, most famously the DMC World DJ Championships, giving it a competitive edge. It has also shown to be very collaborative with the social media website "Turntable.fm" where people can listen, DJ, and chat with each other, sort of like virtual turntablism allowing accessibility to millions of people. Adding to the digital turntablism is a famous video game known as "DJ Hero", similar to "Guitar Hero" except with a turntable.

The technological age has allowed several individuals to mix and scratch to make their very own beats (like Dubstep) and turntablism is making a new jump back into our music.

Bruce Lee's Blog on Manliness

Lesson Number 2:

A man is Physically Fit.

A man must be physically
strong for many reasons
obviously. Though Bruce Lee
was the man that took physical
fitness perfection and skill to a
whole new level.
-
The One and Only Legend
Bruce Lee

Nunchucks Kimbo (Awesome)

Bruce lee redefined the fitness world. He set new standards and examples to follow that would inspire generations to "imitate" him. If you haven't seen his movies then you've been missing out on some pretty fantastic martial arts movies. They mainly feature Bruce, his nun chucks, his awesome karate screams, and his fist taking everyone out. He was quoted to have said," To tell the truth...... I could beat anybody in the world''.
If you can dare say that they you must either be the best fighter in the world (which he was), or a fool. Because of his differential practices everyone wanted a piece of Bruce lee. He let them have it, his fist in there face! Besides being a martial artist he was also a philosopher earning a degree from a college in Washington. He created his vary own library, physical feats of strength, stylistic wardrobe and most importantly a widely renowned name.
His son Brandon in a interview spoke of his father saying that he would be be proud of himself if he could reach his fathers form of excellence. Bruce was a family man but he didn't let it get in the way of his other passion. During breakfast for example you could find him watching TV while bouncing his baby boy on his abs while doing leg raises and barbel lifts all at once. Bruce Lee is probably as manly as you can get when describing a successful male figure. For he still and always will be the best.

Bruce Lee is a Boss

Is a relationship really worth it?

Since the dawn of time, or since the beginning of our human existence, Man has craved for a relationship. It might be the simplest thing, such as the relationship between a shark and the scrubbers that remove the dirt from its body. But today I will talk about a higher level of relationship. My question to the world for today is: Is maintaining a relationship really worth it? According to recent studies (studied and participated in by  my associates and myself, we shall all remain unnamed), the effort it takes to please a woman adequately enough so that you can progress to the higher levels of the relationship takes approximately 2,000,009,001 Jewels of energy. The energy requirement stated above is only the energy required at stage 1 of the relationship. As the relationship progresses, the amount of energy required to be able to progress to the next stage of the relationship grows exponentially. The stages of the relationship are listed here.
By comparison, a less strenuous activity such as playing video games or eating the entire pizza and not having to give half of that delicious supreme pizza without mushrooms and added jalepenos to your significant other, takes only about 30,000 Jewels of energy.
So in my opinion, relationships aren't worth it. Also you get more pizza.

Theodore Roosevelt's Blog on Manliness

Lesson Number 1:

A mans apperance is key in life.

This is how manly our president
looked. Sort of puts Barak-
Obama in a new perspective
right?
-
US (Manly)
President Theodore
Roosevelt

Manly

Confused

President Roosevelt belived in liveing a strenous lifestyle. When he was campaigning for his third term in presidency he was shot in the chest. He had been waving at the crowds en route to give a speech when a man out of the crowd emerged and shot him. He was blown backwards and fell into the car. Fortunatley the bullet didnt puncture his lung for it was slowed by his steel glasses case and speech paper. The bullet however still had found its way to his rib were it remained firmly lodged. He proceeded on to give his speech and held up his blood soaked t-shirt and said,''“I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a bull moose.” After 90 minutes into the speech he finally allowed himself to be taken to the hospital. Theordore Roosevelt was one of our greatest presidents. He wasnt just our president, he was a real manly man and he acted & looked like one to..   ( this series of blogs will be updated anew every wednesday, this is just the first lesson.)

5 Manly Tips From Freddie Mercury

Legendary singer, songwriter, and musician Freddie Mercury (We Will Rock You,  Don't Stop Me Now) has a great legacy of his musical work, but what some may not know about him are the ideals of manliness he lived by. Now, we bring these ideals to share the manly wisdom Mercury has brought us.

1. Real men sing!

No, not in the shower. Freddie Mercury was a great performer and didn't give a care if someone thought he sounded bad; he still sang his heart out. How do you think he and his band Queen could've made Bohemian Rhapsody if he didn't want people thinking they were weirdos? Guys who sing are one step closer to reaching Freddie Mercury's level of manliness.

2. Get a mustache!

The mustache has always been a notable symbol of a male and there is no exception to Mercury's mustache. Some argue that his mustache was a different class of mustache by itself, topping the great mustaches of Groucho Marx and Charlie Chaplin. Men with mustaches are often seen as more dominant and in power where a beard makes you look like some Lincoln wannabe (probably why Mercury never had one).

3. Keep a close circle of friends

Who would Mercury be if he didn't have his band? He couldn't have risen to fame without the help of Brian May on guitar (left), John Deacon on bass (middle), and Roger Taylor on drums (right). The four are always on sync with their voices in perfect harmony, making listening to their songs the equivalent of listening to a rainbow. Same applies to everyone else. You can never go wrong in trusting your friends, because you always know they have your back.

4. Don't be a dreamer, be a doer!

Freddie was never afraid of doing something new or out of the blue. He always expressed himself in some way, either through his flamboyant fashion or his singing. Mercury was widely admired for his ability to make sure he received what he wanted and not be some pushover who has to do the bidding of others. He also made sure he wasn't just another celebrity by making this image of a rock star and the original "express yourself" kind of guy.

5. Carry on a legacy of your own.

Live your life feeling successful. Forgive and forget, pick yourself up from the sad times, and quit feeling like a loser! Freddie's self-esteem was always at its peak, he always put 200% in his work. Even when diagnosed with AIDS, Mercury fought with an admirable passion. With his notorious arm hanging in the air, he always acknowledged himself as being the greatest and refused to be anything else.

Rest in Peace Freddie Mercury.
